Completely wooden product which we love. However, it was quite stiff to pull the dog's head off. The others were a bit smoother. It may ease over time but for this, it loses a star. My child cannot take it off or push it on. He still enjoyed playing with it and it is cute sitting on his shelf. You can mix and match but it doesn't make sense. The pieces are nice sizes for little hands to hold and control to place on the stick. Great for hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills as they place the pieces on.4*
